Joe and MariElena Raya sought to simplify the process of making craft cocktails at home. In 2012, they created their Bittermilk brand of cocktail mixers and had to scale their operation almost immediately. Winner of Garden & Gun’s 2013 Made in the South Awards, the Rayas worked nonstop to fulfill requests from national retailers. Bittermilk can now be found in more than 45 states and 6 countries, on shelves of respectable retailers including Whole Foods, Anthropologie, and Central Market.
Drawing on inspiration from 19th century apothecary ads, each mixer bears its own unique die cut label while following a unifying theme with respect to typography and brand colors. The goal; to make the product itself worthy of display, right alongside the bottles of booze in your home bar.
